Being in the market for a security camera means you have tons of options to choose from with little to differentiate them. However, knowing what your requirements are can help you pick the right camera for your business. But the battle does not end there. What comes up next is picking the right security provider to install those cameras for you. Improper installation can leave you severely disappointed in your security camera’s performance even after making the right choice.
This blog talks about the step-by-step process of mounting Verkada’s CD62-E, which is the latest in outdoor dome surveillance cameras.
Why Verkada CD62-E Outdoor Camera Is So Popular
Following the same approach it takes to the rest of the security product offering, Verkada’s dome cameras come equipped with the latest and greatest from the security industry. This includes features that provide real-time insights into your business security as well as operations to make them better.
Verkada dome camera series stands out from the competition because of a few key features, which are given below.
Enterprise level performance
Verkada CD62 camera is equipped with a high resolution sensor that offers up to 4K resolution for maximum clarity. This also gives you the ability to zoom in on important events and personnel without the loss of clarity or unnecessary pixelation.
These cameras also come with a system-on-a-chip to give you a seamless streaming experience and enable features such as People and Vehicle Analytics.
Quality and Safety Certifications
One of the major reasons why CD62-E is so popular among security providers is because they are built to last. With durability in mind, these dome cameras exceed expectations in every aspect of durability and ruggedness. The camera body offers IP67 rating for weather resistance, IK10 for impact and vandal resistance, and IK08 for the models built for indoor use. This enables the CD62 to operate in a wide temperature range of -40°C to 50°C.
This ensures that your security cameras last as long as you plan on using them without any hiccups. All of Verkada’s security cameras including the CD62-E are NDAA compliant as well, making them fit for government use.
Hybrid Cloud Storage Architecture
The CD62-E does not rely on just one storage option. With this, you get the best of both worlds, in that, you get ample onboard storage to keep video for prolonged periods of time, and with that, a cloud-based storage option that keeps your video secure for up to 365 continuous days.
The CD62-E connects directly to the cloud, manages bandwidth efficiently for optimal video storage and eliminates the need for chunky NVRs and DVRs.
Cloud-Based Management
Verkada’s software support for the CD62-E offers real-time alerts, the ability to access, view and manage video from anywhere, and a host of new AI features that allow better insights about your business security. Receive alerts about intruders, offline cameras, and motion detection right on your laptop or mobile device with native iOS and Android apps.
You get the ability to see live alerts based on any unusual activity on your business premises such as an unidentified person or a car that comes in outside of working hours. Pair this with automated updates and strong data encryption, you have a remote security management system that never fails you.
Ready To Scale Up
Verkada’s software and hardware are built to allow easy scalability, with the freedom to scale up to a thousand cameras spread across various locations monitoring different scenarios. All this can be done without adding unnecessary equipment that costs significantly and takes up time to set up.
Verkada’s cloud management software lets you scale without any 3rd party plugins so you do not have to go around hunting for one that fits your system.
Easy To Use
Centralized management of everything through a single software equipped with remote access on any device allows you to focus on your core operations and not have to worry about security. The user-friendly interface requires no training and lets you manage your entire system from a single device.
Verkada offers reliability, ease of use and robust security in a single vendor so that you do not have to go finding components and building security systems while worrying about integration and compatibility. In case you choose to go for Verkada security cameras, consulting a security company can help you narrow down and install the cameras to help you make the most of them.
How To Install Verkada CD62-E Outdoor Camera

In case you are in the second boat, this guide is for you to ease your installation process and help you secure your business better.
This step by step guide walks you through the entire process of mounting, installing and connecting your CD62-E outdoor camera:
Look For The Right Spot To Place Your Camera
Knowing where to mount an outdoor camera is not as easy as it sounds. There are a lot of factors to consider when it comes to picking the right spot for your cameras.
Whether it is an entrance, driveway, parking lot, truck yards or construction sites, there are a few Do’s and Don’ts of installing security cameras that have to be considered.

Take Stock of What You Get In The Box
After picking the right spot for your camera, make a count of everything you get in the box to make sure that you have everything you need to get started. Remove everything from the packaging and make a list of things that come with the camera to avoid hiccups later on.
There are a few other components in the box apart from the camera itself, which are given below:
Make sure you have everything you need before you get started.
Make A Checklist Of Additional Things Your Need
Now that the security camera components are taken care of, make a checklist of things you would need to connect your camera to the internet to get it up and running.
Here is a list of things you need:
- A stable internet connection
- A smartphone or a laptop
- ¼ inch and ⅛ inch drill bits
- A #2 Phillips screwdriver or a drill bit of the same
- An 802.3at Power over Ethernet switch or injector that (that works below -20 Degrees)
- A Cat5 or Cat6 ethernet cable
This would connect your security camera with power, internet and integrate it with the rest of your system or the video management software.
Connect The Ethernet Cable To The Camera
Now that you have everything ready to go, connect and set up your camera so that it is connected to your network before mounting.
Here are the steps to do that:
- Take the top cover off the dome camera to reveal the inside. Make sure not to remove the protective film until the camera installation is done so as to not scratch it up.
- Up next, connect the camera’s ethernet port to a PoE cable to connect it to your network. When connected, the indicator light on the camera lights up orange indicating that the camera is powered and booting up. When it turns green, it means that the camera is now active.
- Remove the cable and seal it by passing it through the base plate through-hole and sealing it with the cable gland that comes with the camera. Pull the ethernet cable through and connect it to the ethernet port. Leave a little slack in the cable, just enough to allow the cover to close later on.
To ground the camera, take a ground cable and drive it through the grounding point given on the back of the camera with a 6mm screw (not included).
Mount The Camera On The Wall/Ceiling
Once the camera is powered on and connected, mount the camera to the wall or ceiling, wherever you intend for it to go. Be sure to avoid any obstructions that may impact the built-in IR capability of the camera.
Use the mounting template to mark the spots on the wall where the screws would go. Depending on the mounting surface, you may need to use the plastic anchors if the wall is not solid.
Secure the camera on the wall/ceiling by tightening the screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Make sure that the screws do not remain loose and that the camera is mounted securely.
Adjust the Camera Angle According To Your Requirement
Now that the camera is mounted, you can move the lens to where you want to based on your requirements.
- Use the online stream that the camera is showing to confirm the angle.
- The default video orientation is shown by markings on the face of the camera, however, these can be adjusted from within the Verkada application as well on your phone or laptop. The image can also be flipped 180 degrees.
Secure The Top Cover On The Camera
Now that the camera is connected to the network, mounted on the wall, and the framing adjusted, secure the camera by placing the top cover back on.
Remove the desiccant pack from the pouch and peel off the double-sided tape on it. The camera body has a place marked “Attach desiccant here” where the desiccant will go. Stick the desiccant onto the given space.
Place the clear bubble back onto the camera. The top cover is held on and aligned by magnets to keep it in place while you tighten the screws to secure it completely.
Remove the protective plastic film on top of the bubble cover. Perform a few checks to see if the camera is mounted correctly. These include looking at the camera footage through the application to see if the framing is correct. Make sure that the screws are tightened as well and that the top cover is placed properly.
