How to install cctv camera with live monitoring, No Fees

Today, installing a business video surveillance system has never been easier—or more affordable. You no longer need to pay hefty monthly fees to monitor your property. With the right equipment and a simple app, you can view live video feeds of your business directly from your phone, anytime, from anywhere—without subscriptions or hidden charges.

I’m Carlo from Spotter Security, and here’s everything you need to know about setting up a live CCTV monitoring system for your commercial property.

You can easily purchase a video surveillance system online that includes:

• A DVR (Digital Video Recorder)
• High-definition cameras
• Cables and power supplies
• A free mobile app for remote monitoring

For this installation, we used a system purchased from eBay for around $250. It’s an 8-channel DVR setup that includes 4 cameras—perfect for small businesses needing to monitor key areas like entry points, the cash register, and the lobby.

Pro Tip: We typically use QC brand systems for their reliability, but this time we tested a budget-friendly model, and the results were impressive.

Before mounting anything, it’s important to test all cameras and cables:

• Connect the cameras to the DVR using coaxial cables.
• Power everything using the included splitter and power supply.
• Connect the DVR to your monitor and check if each camera displays properly.

Testing ensures that you catch any issues early—before climbing ladders or drilling holes.

The system we used worked with the XVR Pro app, available via QR code.
Setup is straightforward:

• Download the app.
  
• Scan your device’s QR code or use the auto-detect network feature.
  
• Add your DVR and name your location (e.g., “Mesa Store”).
  
• Start viewing live feeds instantly.
  

The app supports up to 8 channels, even though we only installed 4 cameras initially.

Proper placement ensures full coverage:

• Back Door: One camera watching the rear entrance.
• Front Door: One camera facing the main entryway.
• Lobby: Overhead view to monitor customer traffic.
• Cash Register: Close-up monitoring of transaction activities.

The included screws weren’t ideal, so we used heavy-duty drywall anchors rated for 100 pounds—far exceeding the weight of the cameras. Installation was quick and easy, requiring no pre-drilling.

We secured all wiring using a manual staple gun, ensuring we didn’t pinch or damage the cables.

We ran all wires neatly back to the DVR, leaving some slack to avoid stress on the connectors. Testing the live feed again after securing cables confirmed everything was working perfectly.

Using the app while standing at each camera location made it simple to adjust angles, straighten images, and optimize fields of view for maximum coverage.

Additionally, the app’s zoom, screenshot, and live video recording features allow quick evidence collection in case of incidents.

Important Note: While the wiring remains visible and technically could be tampered with, the system’s live feed allows you to capture crucial evidence immediately, even if a DVR is compromised.
